The thesis explores the interaction between Hinduism and Christianity in India, focusing on the concept of inculturation, a process where Christian teachings are adapted to fit Indian cultural contexts. it examines how Hinduism\\\\\\\’s deep influence on Indian spirituality, despite challenges such as the caste system, provided opportunities for Christian missionary activities. The role of Roman Catholic missionaries, particularly post-Vatican II, in promoting inculturation allowed Christianity to resonate more with Indian believers by integrating local practices, fostering education, social reform, and empowering marginalised groups. special attention is given to the Ashram model, which synthesises Christian and Indian spiritual traditions, contributing to social justice and inter-religious dialogue. the thesis concludes by envisioning a future Church in India that gives more importance to spiritual growth, justice, and respect for cultural identity over traditional missionary methods, promoting unity, compassion and social equality.
