Religione e libri in Conrad Gesner, Antonio Possevino e Luis de Granada

È possibile parlare nell’età dell’informazione e del passaggio al digitale di un canone bibliografico cristiano “ideale” in grado di costituire un riferimento certo e che possa sostenere e garantire le scelte del credente adesso? E se sì, con quali modalità deve essere attualmente pensato e attuato? In effetti, se oggi il rapporto tra la religione ed i libri sembra comprensibilmente per lo più indirizzato ad un approccio alla questione di tipo ermeneutico, nel corso della storia si è spesso insistito su un approccio al problema di tipo prevalentemente quantitativo. In questo
elaborato, partendo da un’introduzione alla questione su come il problema è stato affrontato storicamente, ci soffermeremo ad indagare il rapporto tra religione e libri, con particolare riferimento al “nodo” costituito dal passaggio del secolo XVI, attraverso l’approfondimento ed il confronto di tre figure in grado di incarnare tre differenti modalità di lettura interni ad esso, in conseguenza di altrettanti modi di interpretare tale rapporto. Vedremo come nel periodo della stampa si sia così passati, muovendo da un’impostazione alla questione sostanzialmente quantitativa e necessariamente sempre più selettiva, per giungere ad un approccio proteso ad un sentire di tipo sempre più ermeneutico. In particolare, considerando le loro rispettive opere quali paradigmi culturali e religiosi visti in relazione alle società e alle teologie che le sottendono, si è cercato, ove possibile, di cogliere relazioni di carattere “trasversale”, in vista di un loro superamento e integrazione.

Is it possible to speak of the age of information and the digital transformation of an ideal Christian bibliographical cannon which forms a secure reference capable of supporting and vouchsafing the choices made by believers today? And if so, how should such a cannon be structured and put into place? Indeed, while today the relationship between religion and religious books would appear to be, understandably, based mainly on an hermeneutic approach, throughout history the method followed was chiefly quantitative. In this work, starting from an introduction to the question of how this issue has been addressed throughout history, we will examine the rapport between religion and religious books with a particular focus on the crucial passage from the 16th century, via an in-depth discussion and comparison of three pivotal figures with three separate perspectives which, in and of themselves, are a consequence of their three different approaches to interpreting this relationship. We will examine how during the age of the printing press we have passed from a substantially quantitative and necessarily increasingly selective method to arrive at an progressively hermeneutic approach. In particular, considering their works as cultural and religious paradigms seen in relation to the societies and theologies intrinsic to them, we have attempted, where possible, to highlight the transversal relationships between them with a view to their preservation and absorption.
