Study of spiritual theology on the writings of Francis of Assisi concerning the encounter with sultan al-Kamil in Egypt
a franciscan approach towards building harmony through interreligious dialogue between religious believers in Indonesia
Interreligious dialogue is a theme that has never been discussed. This theme has become so important because it touches the concrete life of humans. This can be seen clearly in several regions of the world such as in Asia in general and in Indonesia in particular. This country, which has the largest Muslim population in the world, has reflected the importance of living in diversity, acknowledging differences, and building cooperation in creating a just and prosperous life. On the one hand, there are still certain groups who want to divide the unity of this nation. Various kinds of dialogue have been carried out, including dialogue between religious groups. But the lack of understanding of the meaning of dialogue, causing certain groups or people to fall into the wrong understanding. One of them is that, dialogue is interpreted as a road to national and religious unity. To explain what dialogue means in the current situation (interfaith conflict, poverty and global warming), this thesis describes a new way to church in the current Indonesian context. The life of Saint Francis of Assisi, based on his experience of meeting the sultan Al-Kamil in Egypt, can guide the Indonesian Church today.
